The City of Port St. Lucie is offering a free ten-session course called City University, which includes a graduation ceremony held on October 30. This program provides residents with an inside look at municipal operations and offers the opportunity to become Ambassadors of the City.
Registration for the 14th City U opens on Monday, July 22. Classes will meet every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning on Wednesday, August 28, at 5:30 p.m. inside the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd. Anyone aged 18 and older who lives in Port St. Lucie can register to attend, with up to 100 registrations being accepted.
Registration is required at www.CityofPSL.com/CityU as space is limited.
By participating in this program, residents can develop a deeper understanding of their community, interact with local elected officials and city staff, and actively engage in learning about various topics related to city governance and development. It fosters civic engagement and creates well-informed individuals who can act as ambassadors for the city. The program promotes transparency, understanding, and community involvement in the city's affairs.
Participants will engage in learning about topics such as decision-making processes, fund allocation, and departmental operations. Residents are briefed on current status and future plans for Port St. Lucie's development. Classroom agendas include discussions, practical applications, and interactive activities to ensure participants understand day-to-day operations. Attendees will tour city facilities and receive a City University shirt; refreshments will be provided at each session. Upon completion, students are invited to a graduation ceremony at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center where they will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and receive an exclusive City U pin.
For those unable to commit to nine Wednesday sessions due to scheduling conflicts, there is another option: City U On Demand! For more information about City University visit www.CityofPSL.com/CityU or call 772-871-7395.
