Today, Congressman Brian Mast announced Varun Singh as the winner of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Florida’s 21st Congressional District. Singh, a junior from Stuart, developed an app called MediTap to assist individuals in monitoring their medication intake.
“Competitions like the Congressional App Challenge aren’t just about coding or gadgets—they’re about problem-solving and taking action,” said Congressman Mast. “MediTap is a practical, forward-thinking solution that could save lives and help countless families nationwide. I’m proud that it originated right here in our district, and I can’t wait to see what Varun does next.”
Singh's inspiration for MediTap came from his mother's experiences in healthcare. The app utilizes QR codes or NFC tags on medication bottles to provide users with important information such as prescribed dosages and timing. It also sends reminders to help users stay on schedule.
MediTap will be featured on House.gov for one year and showcased indefinitely on CongressionalAppChallenge.us. Participants in the competition receive resources such as waived copyright registration application fees under the ARTS Act. The faculty at Indian River State College were thanked for their cooperation and participation in the assessment process.
High school students interested in participating in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge are encouraged to check the website for more information.
