U.S. Congressman Brian Mast from Florida's 21st district has introduced a new legislative proposal titled the No Tax Breaks for Radical Corporate Activism Act. This proposed law aims to prevent businesses from claiming tax deductions on travel expenses incurred when employees travel out of state for abortion services or gender transition procedures for their children.
Rep. Mast stated, "The days of woke corporations using your tax dollars to finance a far-left agenda are over. Too many companies have proven to be completely out of touch with American values." He emphasized that the bill is intended to protect children across the nation by stopping these practices.
This legislative move follows the Supreme Court's decision in 2022 to overturn Roe v. Wade, after which several corporations extended benefits covering travel expenses for employees seeking abortions or gender transition procedures in states where such services are prohibited.
The proposed act would eliminate the possibility for businesses to deduct as a business expense any reimbursement provided to employees for traveling costs related to obtaining an abortion or child gender transition procedures. According to Mast, this measure seeks to ensure that American tax dollars are not used in ways he describes as harmful to children and unborn babies.
