The City of Port St. Lucie is offering residents a variety of new, free programs at The Port District this summer. These activities, which range from walking to fitness, are designed for all ages and allow attendees to enjoy the newly opened Pioneer Park.

The Weekly Walking Club begins on Tuesday, July 16, at 8 a.m. Participants will meet at the hill on the Event Lawn at 2454 SE Westmoreland Blvd. This club provides a safe environment for community members to get fresh air and exercise together. Led by a trained Walk with Ease instructor, the sessions accommodate various fitness levels. "Whether you're looking to boost your physical health, enjoy the outdoors, or make new friends, our Walking Club is the perfect opportunity to start your day on the right foot," stated an organizer. No registration is required.

The Summer Shape-Up: Mommy and Me Fitness class runs from July 16 to August 27 on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., also at 2454 SE Westmoreland Blvd. This program is led by Sandy McKeithen and takes place under the banyan tree's shade. It features cardiovascular exercises, strength training, core workouts, and stretching activities tailored for mothers and their stroller-age children. The classes aim to improve fitness levels and foster community among participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring a stroller and a yoga mat; no registration is required.

Summer Homeschool PE will be held on Thursdays from July 18 to August 29 between 9 and 11:00 a.m., again at 2454 SE Westmoreland Blvd. This structured physical education program for homeschooled children includes soccer, basketball, tag games, and relay races. Led by Gary DeJesus with support from additional staff, it focuses on motor skills, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Safety measures are in place to ensure a secure environment for all participants. Preregistration is required at PSLParks.com or in person at the Community Center.
