The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department is finalizing a transition plan for existing parks and facilities to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and is seeking public input.

An ADA transition plan outlines how to remove physical barriers to provide access to programs and services offered to the public. As part of this process, the City will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 20, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, located at 2195 SE Airoso Blvd. The meeting will also be available via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.

The meeting will include a review of ADA requirements, images of opportunities for improvement at current City of Port St. Lucie parks and facilities, and discussions on findings and best practices from other parks and recreation departments. Attendees can share information about their access priorities that will help shape the transition plan.

In addition to the in-person meeting, an online survey will be available for those unable to attend. The survey will open during the week of June 17 and conclude on July 12. It can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com/r/PSLADA.

Individuals interested in attending the meeting are asked to RSVP by clicking here. A sign language interpreter will be available at the meeting.
