Port St. Lucie is gearing up for a vibrant and inclusive celebration of Black culture with the inaugural Food, Arts, and Music (FAM) Fest. Taking place at Whispering Pines Park on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 6-9 p.m., this free, family-friendly event aims to honor and highlight the rich contributions of the Black community through the three key elements of food, art, and music.
Local vendors will be serving up a delectable array of dishes, including traditional Jamaican cuisine, barbecue chicken, and ribs. It's an opportunity to indulge in a variety of flavors and experience the culinary traditions that have shaped Black culture.
The festival will also showcase the talent of local artists, with works on display that range from bright and unique contemporary art designs to stunning jewelry pieces. Artists interested in participating can submit their work for consideration, with the deadline for submissions being Feb. 9. This is a chance for artists to share their creativity and inspire others through their art.
Music will be at the heart of FAM Fest, with a lineup of talented performers ready to entertain the crowd. DJ Justchill will serve as the emcee, keeping the energy high between musical acts. The Soul Butta Band, a group of talented musicians with over 50 years of combined musical experience, will kick off the evening with their creative and soulful R&B and jazz sounds.
The Kayy Love Live Band will follow, offering soulful vocals and incredible melodies that are sure to captivate the audience. And to close out the night, Careless Vibez, an R&B group comprised of two pairs of brothers who have been singing together for over a decade, will take the stage. Their music aims to inspire and uplift lives, making for a memorable finale.
But the festivities don't end there. FAM Fest has something for everyone, including entertainment from Extreme Mobile Gaming. This unique gaming experience features the latest game systems, a substantial game library, and seven high-definition TV screens. With a climate-controlled environment, up to 28 players can enjoy the thrill of gaming together.
In addition to the food, art, and music, FAM Fest is an opportunity to learn more about local nonprofit organizations and community partners. Booths will be available for organizations such as Port St. Lucie Black Women Walk, Treasure Coast Black Chamber of Commerce, Caribbean American Cultural Group, Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County, and the Council on Aging of St. Lucie to provide information and insights about their services.
The FAM Fest promises to be a celebration of Black culture that fosters community engagement and appreciation. By bringing together food, art, and music, this event creates an atmosphere where everyone can come together to honor and celebrate the vibrant contributions of the Black community.
