St. Lucie Earth Day Festival Returns to the Oxbow Eco-Center April 23

On22

Get “Rooted in Hope” at the 18th Annual St. Lucie Earth Day Festival at the Oxbow Eco-Center on Saturday, April 23, featuring live music from Rainfall Reggae, Professor Pennygoode’s Might Flea Circus and other special performances. The festival also includes diverse eco-art, guided hikes, sustainable living ideas and community resources. New for 2022, enjoy extended festival hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Well-known along the Treasure Coast for its interactive elements and ‘fun-while-learning’ atmosphere, this annual Earth Day event celebrates the conservation of natural resources, inspires giving back to the community and encourages sustainable living. More than 70 local organizations and businesses will be showcased, sharing hands-on activities throughout the gardens and trails of the Oxbow preserve. Meet local environmental groups, health professionals, law enforcement officers, foresters, gardeners, beekeepers and more. Explore planet Earth through virtual reality experiences, dissect seeds, protect sea turtles, identify nesting birds, spot a dolphin, combat wildfire and more.

Students can take the Eco-Challenge to be entered to win prizes. Guests can enjoy the nature playscape, musical forest, magic shows and live animal encounters at the wooded amphitheater stage.  You can even create your own eco-art and add it to the crowd-sourced centerpiece at the festal. Visit www.StLucieEarthDay.com for eco-art details and the most up-to-date information, including parking, stage schedules, food trucks, sponsors and vendors.

The Oxbow Eco-Center is a St. Lucie County Environmental Learning Center situated on 225 acres along the St. Lucie River at 5400 NE St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie.  Please note that the Oxbow Eco-Center’s main parking lot will be closed Tuesday, April 12 through Monday, April 25 as staff prepares for the festival. Auxiliary parking will be available along the southern canal bank for hikers and visitors. Signage will be visibly placed to direct cars to the parking area, located just south of the Oxbow’s main entrance. Bathrooms, trails, the nature playscape, amphitheater and picnic areas will all remain open during regular hours with limited access to indoor exhibits.
