St. Lucie County issued the following announcement on Feb. 3.
Fairwinds Golf Course will host World Golf Hall of Fame Member Dennis Walters for the grand opening of the new Wee Links – six hole chipping and pitching course – on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
American Society of Golf Course Architects Member Erik Larson with BrightView Golf designed this new six-hole chipping and putting course at the west end of Fairwinds, practice facility. This site will serve as the home of Fairwinds’ Special Olympics program, the PGA Hope program for veterans and the First Tee program designed for tweens and teens.
World Golf Hall of Fame Member Dennis Walters will kick off this grand opening with his inspiring show at 1 p.m., followed by the Inaugural Wee Links Junior Invitational at 2:30 p.m.
Those wishing to participate in the Inaugural Wee Links Junior Invitational can register by calling 772-462-4653 or emailing cammarenem@stlucieco.org. This free tournament is designed for ages 6 to 10 years old, but space is limited.
