The City of Port St. Lucie is set to host its bi-annual Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, providing residents with a secure and environmentally friendly method to dispose of hazardous household waste and unwanted chemicals. This event, which is free for residents of the City of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County, requires participants to present valid identification.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon, the collection will take place at the Public Works Facility located at 450 SW Thornhill Drive. The facility serves as a designated drop-off site twice annually, enabling households to safely discard items such as bug sprays, electronics, drain cleaners, fire extinguishers, fluorescent light bulbs/tubes, and fuel.
Residents are also encouraged to bring fats, oils, and grease from cooking or food preparation in containers holding less than five gallons. It is important to note that this service is intended solely for household waste and not for commercial, institutional, or agricultural sources.
For safety reasons during the event, attendees should remain in their vehicles while volunteers assist with unloading items for disposal at no cost.
Further details on acceptable and unacceptable items can be found by visiting CityofPSL.com/KPSLB.
