Summer is approaching, and the City of Port St. Lucie is preparing to open registration for its youth summer camps. The camps, scheduled from June 9 through August 1, aim to provide children with activities that promote creativity, teamwork, and physical fitness.
In response to growing demand, the city has expanded the program by adding four new locations: Manatee K-8 School, Southern Oaks Middle School, Southport Middle School, and McCarty Ranch Wilderness Camp. These are in addition to the existing sites at MIDFLORIDA Event Center and Minsky Gym.
Registration will be available from March 14-21. This year introduces a lottery system for families registering for all eight weeks of camp. According to city officials, "This lottery system will replace the first-come, first-served approach and offer families an equal opportunity to sign up." Once registration closes, participants will be randomly selected and notified with enrollment instructions. Seats are not guaranteed until enrollment is finalized after selection in the lottery.
Families interested in enrolling their children for individual weeks will be placed based on application submission time after those registering for all eight weeks have been accommodated.
The weekly cost of attending these camps is $140. For half-day options, drop-in sessions are priced at $25 per day.
