Port St. Lucie 2024 “Drop Savers” Poster Contest Winners Announced

Port St. Lucie Utility Systems, in conjunction with the Florida Section American Water Works Association (FSAWWA), recently announced the winners of the 2024 “Drop Savers” Poster Contest. The competition invited St. Lucie County school students in grades K-12 to create posters depicting water conservation ideas.

According to a report from the contest organizers, the initiative aims to educate and raise awareness among students about the importance of water conservation. Winners of the contest were recognized during a special presentation at the Port St. Lucie City Council Meeting on April 22, 2024.

Mayor and City Council members acknowledged the efforts of the students, emphasizing the significance of long-term education and awareness programs in promoting water conservation. A total of 240 students from seven different schools, including a homeschool group, participated in the competition.

The posters were judged based on their message, creativity, and originality. Each winner received a $25 Walmart gift card, a shirt featuring their winning design, and various other prizes. The chosen students showcased their innovative ideas for water conservation through their artwork.

Among the winners of the 2024 “Drop Savers” Poster Contest were:

- Kindergarten: Cole Drouin, Savanna Ridge Elementary

- 1st Grade: Hinata Springs, Ivy League Academy

- 2nd Grade: Timothy Kitchens, Ivy League Academy

- 3rd Grade: Mia Macuga, Ivy League Academy

- 4th Grade: Catalina Gonzalez, Savana Ridge Elementary

- 5th Grade: Gabriella Babilonia, Savanna Ridge Elementary

- 6th Grade: Ny’Asia Dudley Dan McCarty Middle

- 7th Grade: Daniel Ruggian, Ivy League Academy

- 8th Grade: Isaiah McLeish, Homeschool

- 9th Grade: Daniela Nicado, St. Lucie West Centennial High

Additionally, several students received honorable mentions for their exceptional entries in the contest. Ryland Hoffman from Savanna Ridge Elementary, Gianna Grasso from Morningside Elementary, and Frank Martinez from Ivy League Academy were among those recognized for their outstanding efforts.

The “Drop Savers” Poster Contest serves as a valuable platform for students to express their creativity while promoting the crucial message of water conservation in the community.
