St. Lucie County’s Aquatics staff will be offering adult swimming lessons every Saturday from Jan. 7 through Feb. 4 at the Ravenswood Pool.

There will be three levels of adult swim lessons: Advanced starting at 8:30 a.m.; Intermediate at 9:15 a.m., and Beginners starting at 10 a.m. The cost for the five-session series is $54 per adult. Adults can take just one session for $11. Advanced registration for the adult swim lessons can be made online: www.stlucieco.gov/aquatics (click the Swim Lesson tab and follow the link to the online Parks registration portal).

According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 410 people drowned in Florida pools last year, with more than half of them being adults. St. Lucie County has 21 miles of coastline and thousands of miles of canals, ponds, wetlands and other bodies of water, which increase the risk of drowning.

Located at 400 SW Ravenswood Lane, Ravenswood Pool is open for lap swimming Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:30 to 8 a.m. and for general open swim on Fridays from 8 to 11 a.m.; Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

St. Lucie County’s Parks & Recreation Department operates three public pools. For more information regarding pool locations and hours visit: www.stlucieco.gov/aquatics.
