St. Lucie County issued the following announcement on Sept. 27.
Children’s programs return to St. Lucie County branch libraries this October with a variety of activities for toddlers to teens.
- Fall Family Fun Day on Friday, Oct. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Kilmer Branch Library. Come by the library for a fun filled afternoon of awesome fall activities for kids of all ages.
- S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in fun ways. Learn about weather, rainbows, color, motion and more. Most suitable for students in grades kindergarten through 5th.
- Hurston Branch on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.
- Morningside Branch on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m.
- Lewis Branch on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 2:30 p.m.
- Bi-lingual Story time on Friday, Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewis Branch Library. Enjoy a bi-lingual story time in both English and Spanish. Most suitable for ages 3-5 years old.
- Lego Play on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Hurston Branch. Join us for Lego fun. Use your imagination and play with other Lego fans. Most suitable for students in grades K-5.
- Make and Take Crafts - Stop by the library and enjoy some fall themed crafts to make and take home to treasure. Most suitable for students in grades K-5.
- Kilmer Branch on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
- Morningside Branch on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
- Just Baby & Me on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewis Branch. Songs, stories and movement - fun for you and your baby. For infants up to 2 1/2 years.
- Rhythm & Rhyme on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Morningside Branch. Toddler story time - Early literacy through rhymes, stories, movement and more. For ages 2 1/2 years and older.
- Story Time Jam - Reading & Rhythm at 10:30 a.m. - Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3 to 5.
- Tuesdays at the Lakewood Park Branch
- Thursdays at the Hurston Branch
- Fridays the Morningside, Lewis and Kilmer Branches
- Music & Motion for Kids at 10:30 a.m. Action Songs, Movement, Singing, Instruments and fun for ages under 6 with caregiver.
- Wednesdays at the Port St. Lucie Branch
- Thursdays at the Morningside and Lewis Branches
- Fridays at the Lakewood Park and Hurston Branches.
Tweens and Teens:
- Teen Tech Challenge is a chance to test your skills with computers and technology. This self-guided challenge takes about an hour to complete and can be done at your leisure. Go it alone or work together to master this month’s challenge at the Hurston Branch.
- Off the Chain Crochet for Teens on Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Hurston Branch. Do you know how to crochet or would you like to learn? Our teen program is open to all skill levels. Learn new stitches and techniques or just come and crochet with others.
- Zine Scene on Friday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. at the Hurston Branch. Express your creativity, interests\ and individuality. Zines are a self-published booklet created by cutting and gluing art, images and text onto a master for photocopying. Materials provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Best suited for students in grades 8 and up.
- Young Teen DIY on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Explore your creative side by making corner bookmarks. All materials are provided. Best suited for students in grades 5-9.
- Zombie Prom on Saturday, Oc. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Hurston Branch. Come in your best Zombie costume. Have fun at the Zombie Make-up Station, test your aim at Zombie Target Practice and make Zombie-themed crafts and buttons. Take zombie prom photos too. For teens in grades in 6-12.
