County of St. Lucie issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.
The George LeStrange Preserve will be closed Friday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. in preparation for the Osprey Trail Run Event on Saturday, Sept. 11.The preserve will reopen to the public on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m.
After a long-awaited return, the Osprey Trail Run is back for its second year. Hosted by the St. Lucie County Environmental Resources Department in partnership with a dedicated volunteer planning committee, this 25K and 8K race is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11 at the 94-acre George LeStrange Preserve located at 4911 Ralls Road in Fort Pierce.
The Osprey Trail Run is a 2.5-mile loop-based trail race that takes runners around a serene fishing lake, down along 10-Mile Creek and through various terrain that includes technical single track winding trails, hard-packed gravel, canopied hammocks, oxbows, hills and low-lying flatlands. Other features include aid stations, portable restrooms, specialized swag items and customized shirt and design options.
The net proceeds from this event will benefit the Environmental Resources Department to reinforce awareness, knowledge and stewardship of our natural resources.
