St. Lucie County issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.
St. Lucie County’s Planning and Development Services Department reminds residents and contractors that the Building Division staff is ready to help in times of emergency repair work.
“We understand that household emergencies arise, such as when an air-condition stops working on the hottest day in the summer or a water heater element no longer warms the water for your home,” said Building & Code Regulation Manager Monica Graziani.
Emergency repairs are permitted to be performed before obtaining a permit for the work. Section 105.2.1 of the Florida Building Code allows emergency repairs and requires the permit application submitted the next business day.
St. Lucie County staff asks that the contractors call the Building Division at 772-462-1553 to let staff know an emergency repair is underway with the specific property's address. Then apply for the permit on the next business day.
