The City of Port St. Lucie is set to host its bi-annual Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, offering residents a secure method to dispose of hazardous household waste and unwanted chemicals. This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Facility located at 450 SW Thornhill Drive.
Participation in this initiative is free and open exclusively to residents of the City of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County, with valid IDs required for entry.
The designated drop-off site at the Public Works facility allows households to safely dispose of various hazardous items such as bug sprays, electronics, drain cleaners, fire extinguishers, fluorescent light bulbs/tubes, and fuel twice a year. Residents can also bring fats, oils, and grease from cooking in containers holding less than five gallons. The service is limited strictly to household waste and does not cater to commercial, institutional, or agricultural sources.
For safety reasons during the disposal process, participants are advised to remain in their vehicles while volunteers assist with unloading items for disposal at no cost.
For further details on acceptable and unacceptable items for disposal, residents can visit CityofPSL.com/KPSLB.
