The City of Port St. Lucie is seeking feedback from residents through an annual survey to inform future community planning. For eight years, the city has utilized the National Community Survey to gather insights that influence strategic planning, program prioritization, and service development.
Conducted by the National Research Center (NRC) and Polco, surveys are sent to a statistically valid sample of residents. Those receiving a survey are urged to complete and return it, as the data will significantly impact updates to the city's strategic plan and goals. An online version is available for all residents at cityofpsl.com/communitysurvey until March 5.
The survey examines aspects of community livability, including quality of life in Port St. Lucie, demographics, local government services, and their usage by residents. The results offer insights into residents' perceptions and provide comparative analytics with other local governments nationwide.
The collected information will assist the Mayor, City Council, and city staff in making informed operational, strategic, and policy decisions. Past survey results have directly influenced several key community projects and initiatives.
Conducting such surveys aligns with best practices identified by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) for data-driven decision-making in local governments. This practice aids performance evaluation, enhances communication with the community, and supports decision-making efforts.
