U.S. Congressman Brian Mast has reintroduced legislation to honor Trooper Zachary Fink by renaming a post office building in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The move comes as part of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, which recognizes the contributions and sacrifices of law enforcement personnel.
"Our community lost one of Florida’s finest last year," said Rep. Mast. "We cannot repay his sacrifice, but we can ensure his memory lives on. Trooper Fink’s bravery and selflessness should inspire us all. He is a hero and should never be forgotten."
Trooper Fink died on February 2, 2024, while pursuing Michael A. Addison, who was wanted for multiple offenses including burglary and aggravated assault.
"It is my hope that dedicating this facility in his honor will preserve his legacy for generations to come," Rep. Mast added. "Trooper Fink dedicated his life to making our community a safer place."
The proposed bill seeks to rename the post office at 290 NW Peacock Boulevard after Trooper Fink.
