STUART, Fla. - Congressman Brian Mast (FL-21) has sent a letter to Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Shawn Hamilton, urging him to meet with opponents of the proposal to bulldoze Jonathan Dickinson State Park at a rally scheduled in Stuart at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

“I and nearly every member of our community are overwhelmingly opposed to building golf courses on this public land. While your agency has postponed meetings originally scheduled for August 27, 2024, to hear from us, our community will nonetheless be gathering tomorrow to voice our frustration with the lack of communication from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection,” wrote Congressman Mast. “I urge you to attend and level with the people of this community about whose idea this proposal was and where it stands currently.”

A copy of the entire letter can be found here.
