WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Brian Mast (FL-21) has spoken out against the International Criminal Court's warning of pursuing legal action against countries that impose sanctions on the organization for its decision-making.
In response to the threat, Congressman Mast, who chairs the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, criticized the ICC, stating, "The International Kangaroo Court should be thankful it doesn’t have a mandate to prosecute willful ignorance. If it did, the entire organization would be forced to turn itself in at once."
Furthermore, Mast expressed his concern over the ICC's stance, highlighting that, "With its threat today, the court has shown it has no respect for the sovereignty of individual nations."
The congressman's remarks come amidst escalating tensions between the ICC and countries considering sanctions against the organization.
