Sea turtle nesting season in St. Lucie County kicked off March 1 and runs through Nov. 15. Sea turtles are protected under the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973 and Florida's Marine Turtle Protection Act (Florida Statute 379.2431), which restricts the disturbance, destruction, or harassments of sea turtles, their nests, or their eggs. This statute also restricts the possession or sale of sea turtles and sea turtle eggs. St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office deputies regularly patrol our beaches to ensure compliance. Please do your part to help keep our beaches sea turtle friendly!
