From  March 3, 2023 post.

Today, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Assistant Chief Richard Codd and Decedent Affairs Coordinator Nancy Rufino, from the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, collected the remains of Retired U.S. Navy Veteran Oscar Howard McCaffity, which were found and turned over to the Sheriff's Office earlier this year.

Born Nov. 15, 1921, Oscar served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Retiring in June 1969, Oscar honorably served our country for nearly 27 years. He passed away on May 10, 2003.

Assistant Chief Richard Codd and his team will coordinate a military burial at a future date to properly honor Oscar and the sacrifices he made serving our country.

On behalf of all the men and women at the Sheriff's Office, thank you Oscar for your service! May you rest in peace.
