City of Stuart issued the following announcement on July 21.
Beginning July 26, 2021, contract workers will demolish and replace existing wood picket handrails along the city Riverwalk with a new horizontal stainless steel cable handrail system. The project is expected to be completed by November 22, 2021.
The total project cost is $254,700.00 and contract work will be completed by A Great Fence, LLC. Planned work has been divided into two locations beginning along the section closest to NW Dixie Highway. The secondary location for replacement is along the pier nearest to city hall. Contractors will be using the public parking to the north of the Stuart Heritage Museum (Feed Store) as a temporary staging area for equipment.
While the Riverwalk is to remain open at this time, residents and visitors are requested to keep the area readily accessible so that the contractor may complete work in a timely manner. If temporary closures to the Riverwalk for construction work and public safety become necessary, further public notices will follow.
For questions or for additional information on this project, please contact Mr. Marc Rogolino, Utilities & Engineering Project Manager at (772) 221-4700.
