Cost of college went up for all students at the Fortis Institute-Port Saint Lucie

Tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at the Fortis Institute-Port Saint Lucie, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Florida students paid $16,207 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year – $475 more than the $15,732 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 20 students received grants or scholarships totaling $103,844 and 21 students took out student loans totaling more than $174,119.

Including all undergraduates (400), 312 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.5 million, and 298 students took out $2.3 million in federal student loans.
