Rep. Brian Mast has released a report detailing findings from a two-year investigation into the State Department's foreign assistance programs under the Biden-Harris administration. The report, titled "While Taxpayers Were Sleeping: How the State Department Exports Ideology Through Foreign Assistance," alleges misuse of funds and ideological bias.
Rep. Mast, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, criticized the State Department's approach to foreign aid. "For the entirety of the Biden-Harris administration, bleeding heart liberals at the State Department have played politics with foreign assistance," he stated. He further commented on specific initiatives funded by the department, such as "drag shows in Ecuador" and "expanding atheism in Nepal."
The report highlights several instances of alleged misconduct, including actions by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration that reportedly facilitated illegal entry into the U.S. It also mentions awards given by the Global Engagement Center to organizations accused of suppressing free speech rights within America.
The findings raise concerns about bipartisan support for foreign assistance and question whether taxpayer dollars are being used effectively against geopolitical adversaries.
