Sea Breeze Rehab and Nursing Center ranked as the third largest nursing facility in Indian River County for the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility offered 110 beds, which was 14 above the county average as of the first three months of 2026. On average, 101.3 residents received care during that time.

With an overall CMS rating of 3 out of 5, Sea Breeze Rehab and Nursing Center fell short of the 3.3 average for nursing homes in Florida.

Palm Garden of Vero Beach held the top spot for size in the area, with 189 available beds, while Vero Beach Care Center was second, providing 159 beds.

Sea Breeze Rehab and Nursing Center reported no fines or penalties for the first quarter of 2026.

There were five for-profit nursing homes operating in Indian River County, Florida, during this time.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the older adult population in the United States is growing, while younger population groups dwindle. Between 2020 and 2024, the number of residents age 65 and older increased by 13%, as those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The nation’s older adult population has expanded sharply over the last century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 study found that about half of these older adults, close to 28 million, could require long-term services and supports. Additionally, projections suggest more than one-third may ultimately need care in a nursing home.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
