Rep. Brian Mast, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, posted a series of messages on his social media account between August 3 and August 5, 2025, commemorating public servants and national institutions.
On August 3, Mast paid tribute to two fallen first responders: “May Firefighter Jairus Hodge and Deputy Shawn Green rest in peace. Your dedication and courage will never be forgotten.”
The following day, Mast marked the anniversary of the United States Coast Guard: “Happy 235th Birthday to @USCG—since 1790, coasties have protected our shores, enforced our laws, and saved countless lives. Today we honor their service & dedication to our nation!” The Coast Guard was established in 1790 and has played a key role in maritime safety and law enforcement.
On August 5, Mast commented on a recent decision by the President regarding youth fitness: “.@POTUS just brought back the Presidential Fitness Test. It’s time that we empower our kids with discipline, strength, and the true value of a healthy lifestyle. A strong nation starts with strong kids.” The Presidential Fitness Test is a physical fitness program previously used in schools across the United States.
Mast has served as Florida’s representative in Congress since replacing Patrick Murphy in 2017. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently resides in Fort Pierce. Prior to his congressional service, he graduated from Harvard University Extension School with a BA in 2016.
