Rep. Brian Mast, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, posted several updates on his official Twitter account this week, addressing topics ranging from public safety to environmental funding and legislative initiatives.
On January 8, 2026, Mast criticized the harassment of individuals who have sworn to protect Americans, stating: “Admitting to harassing individuals who took an oath to protect Americans—including your own constituents—is, frankly, appalling.”
The following day, Mast announced significant progress in water development legislation: “The House just passed legislation to advance MAJOR & HISTORIC levels of funding for our communities’ water development priorities—including the MOST that’s ever been allocated for Everglades restoration.” This legislative action marks a notable increase in federal investment aimed at restoring the Everglades ecosystem.
Later on January 9, Mast expressed gratitude toward law enforcement officers and highlighted his sponsorship of a bill honoring those lost in the line of duty: “Thank you to the men and women who put on a badge or shield—I am proud to sponsor the Medal of Sacrifice Act to make sure those we lost in the line of duty are always remembered.”
Mast has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Patrick Murphy in 2017. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently resides in Fort Pierce. Before joining Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives and earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University Extension School in 2016.
