Rep. Brian Mast, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district, announced several recent developments via social media this week, including a significant expansion for Florida anglers and statements honoring public safety personnel and animal protection efforts.
On May 12, Mast posted about an extended fishing season for local residents: “Big win for Florida anglers: a record 39-day Atlantic red snapper season has been approved for 2026. Anglers can cast a line from May 22-June 20!” (May 12, 2026).
The following day, he expressed his continued commitment to honoring public safety heroes: “We will continue to honor these heroes, and they will never be forgotten. They dedicated their lives to protecting ours.” (May 13, 2026).
Later on May 13, Mast highlighted legislative action regarding animal welfare: “Another step in the right direction to protect our pets. If you harm animals, you will pay the price.” (May 13, 2026).
Brian Mast has served in Congress since replacing Patrick Murphy in 2017 and represents constituents from Florida’s Treasure Coast region. Before joining Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently residing in Fort Pierce at age 42, Mast is also an alumnus of Harvard University Extension School.
