Rep. Brian Mast, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, began the new year with several posts on social media addressing education and state migration trends.

On January 5, 2026, Mast posted: “Definitely a win. Kicking off 2026 the right way.”

Later that day, he addressed education policy, stating: “Every child learns differently and education should reflect just that. School choice matters.” This statement comes amid ongoing national debates about educational reform and school choice programs.

On January 6, 2026, Mast commented on population shifts between states: “Americans are fleeing high-tax blue states & flocking to Florida where the water is warm and the personal income tax doesn’t exist!” Florida is known for having no state personal income tax, which has been cited as a factor attracting new residents from other states.

Mast has represented Florida’s 21st district in Congress since replacing Patrick Murphy in 2017. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and holds a BA from Harvard University Extension School. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980, Mast currently resides in Fort Pierce.
