Rep. Brian Mast, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, recently addressed several policy issues through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On August 26, 2025, Mast disputed claims about GOP actions on social security by stating, “MYTH: They claim the GOP is cutting social security. FACT: The One Big Beautiful Bill is protecting social security: NEW bonus deduction for seniors allows them to deduct an extra $6,000 when filing their taxes. 88% of America’s seniors will pay NO TAX on their social”.
Later that evening, Mast commented on public safety in Washington D.C., posting on August 27, 2025: “When law enforcement officers are allowed to do their jobs, we’re all safer. Residents, tourists, and workers deserve to feel secure in our nation’s capital.”
In another post on August 27, 2025, Mast referenced immigration policy impacts with the statement: “That’s 275,0000 illegal aliens who are no longer taking benefits that should be going to American taxpayers.”
Mast has served as the representative for Florida’s 21st district since replacing Patrick Murphy in 2017. Before his time in Congress, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently residing in Fort Pierce, Mast earned his BA from Harvard University Extension School in 2016.
