Rep. Brian Mast, who has represented Florida’s 21st District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, addressed several topics of local and national interest in a series of recent social media posts. Mast, a Harvard University Extension School graduate born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and currently residing in Fort Pierce, used his platform to express support for law enforcement, honor military veterans, and discuss tax policy affecting workers.
On July 14, 2025, Mast expressed support for law enforcement officers who may feel unsupported by their local governments. He stated: “To any officer not feeling supported by your local goverment—Florida has your back. Here we support law enforcement, not defund it. Our communities respect your badge & we will always provide you the tools to do the job.”
The following day, on July 15, 2025, Mast thanked the Indian River State College (IRSC) community for facilitating a trip for veterans to Washington D.C., where they could visit memorials built in their honor. In his post he wrote: “Thank you, @IRSCTheRiver community for flying these local heroes to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. These veterans answered the call to serve & may we continue to honor their sacrifice here in our nation’s capital!”
Later on July 15, 2025, Mast commented on tax policy affecting workers’ tips in Florida. He stated: “No tax on tips will help Floridians across our state pocket more of their hard-earned money. This is the most pro-worker administration in history.”
Brian Mast replaced former U.S. Congress member Patrick Murphy when he assumed office in 2017 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.
