Effective May 14, the City of Port St. Lucie has adjusted the operating hours of its Convenient Drop-Off Center to align with county landfill hours. The center will now be open from Wednesday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful (KPSLB) is encouraging residents, businesses, schools, and community groups to join the Adopt-A-Street program. With over 917 miles of roadway in Port St. Lucie, maintaining a clean environment is challenging but essential for the city’s appearance and health.

Volunteers in this program are crucial in keeping neighborhoods free of litter and reducing stormwater runoff pollution by removing trash before it reaches the storm system. Currently, about 500 volunteers from 85 groups manage approximately 175 miles of roadway.

Participation in the program is free, requiring only time and commitment to conduct litter cleanups at least twelve times annually. The Office of Solid Waste supports volunteers by providing necessary equipment like litter grabbers, trash bags, safety shirts, training, and waste pickup services.

Each summer, KPSLB hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast to recognize volunteers’ efforts throughout the year.

The Adopt-A-Street program offers individuals and groups a chance to take responsibility for local roadways by committing to regular cleanups. This initiative not only helps maintain city beauty but also fosters civic responsibility and protects local wildlife.
