The City of Port St. Lucie has announced a change in the operating hours for its Convenient Drop-Off Center, effective from May 14. The center will now be open from Wednesday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., aligning with the county landfill’s schedule.
In other news, the city is inviting residents to provide input on the allocation of federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. These funds are intended to assist low- to moderate-income residents and neighborhoods within Port St. Lucie. The CDBG program can finance various projects, including building community facilities, roads, parks, housing repair or rehabilitation, public services enhancement, or initiatives that generate or retain jobs.
Residents are encouraged to join a meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 5 at 6 p.m., where proposed projects for grant funding will be discussed. Participation in this meeting is part of a citizen participation process aimed at identifying community development needs as part of the annual action plan preparation.
The CDBG Program is an entitlement grant provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Its primary purpose is to develop viable urban communities by providing services primarily to low-income citizens and their neighborhoods.
