The Florida League of Cities (FLC) has recognized several leaders from the City of Port St. Lucie with the 2025 Home Rule Hero Award. Vice Mayor Jolien Caraballo, Councilwoman Stephanie Morgan, Councilman David Pickett, and Deputy City Manager Kate Parmelee were honored for their efforts during the 2025 Legislative Session.
These city officials played a significant role in advocating for local governance by sharing insights, local data, and examples that informed state lawmakers. Their work aimed to elevate the voice of Florida’s cities and promote the concept of Home Rule, which allows cities to address local issues with minimal state interference.
According to FLC Chief of Legislative Affairs Casey Cook, Home Rule Hero Award recipients are those who actively engage with members of the Legislature to provide a local perspective on various issues.
Additionally, effective May 14, the City of Port St. Lucie’s Convenient Drop-Off Center will operate Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., aligning with county landfill hours.
