The City of Port St. Lucie is gearing up for a festive event, Grandparents Night: Christmas in July, aimed at bringing grandparents and their grandchildren together for a unique celebration. Scheduled for Friday, July 11, the event will take place at the Community Center located at 2195 SE Airoso Blvd.

This new Parks and Recreation initiative offers an opportunity for children aged 2-12 to enjoy a summer evening filled with activities such as DJ music, dancing, snacks, face painting, fairy hair, and a photobooth. A special appearance by Santa Claus is also planned.

Tim Roth, Deputy Director of Recreation, explained the inspiration behind the event: “While overseeing the most recent Daddy Daughter Dance, the Community Center Recreation team observed several grandfathers in attendance. The team thought there should be a special night just for grandparents to spend with their grandchildren, very similar to the Daddy Daughter Dance.”

He added that the idea of celebrating Christmas in July stemmed from fond memories associated with Christmas time and aimed to avoid conflicts with other city events held in December.

Tickets are priced at $10 per person plus tax and can be purchased in advance on PSLParks.com. Attendees are required to bring a copy of their receipt for entry.
