The City of Port St. Lucie has announced changes to its solid waste collection schedule in anticipation of the Independence Day holiday. The adjustments will affect garbage, recycling, yard, and bulk waste collection during the holiday week.

Port St. Lucie’s Convenient Drop-Off Center will operate with new hours from Wednesday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents are advised that yard waste and construction materials will not be accepted at the center, and there is a limit of three trips per month.

Independence Day is one of only three holidays that impact the city’s solid waste services, alongside Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Residents are reminded to soak used fireworks in water before placing them in black garbage carts to prevent potential fires after celebrations.
