The Florida Sports Hall of Fame Fan Club has announced that it will provide student memberships to all 117 children attending the Florida Citrus Sports annual summer camp. The sponsorship is made possible through funds raised by the club’s Student Scholarship Program.
Each camper will receive a student membership package, which includes a tablet bag, pen, and discounts at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Pizza Hut, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Additionally, Athletic Junction has donated T-shirts for the campers.
Earlier this year, the Florida Sports Hall of Fame Fan Club partnered with the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation to support children in Central Florida. The Foundation runs a free summer camp program for economically disadvantaged children from communities near Camping World Stadium. The camp emphasizes academics, athletics, attitude, and achievement in a safe environment.
“We feel very good about the work we are doing to provide a sports/educational experience for these children through these student membership scholarships,” said Fan Club director Jan Richard. “Our hope is for this partnership to lead to other opportunities for the Florida Sports Hall of Fame Fan Club to benefit youth sports around the state.”
The club’s involvement also includes bringing sports celebrities to speak and conduct clinics at the camp. Past speakers have included Alan Smith, a retired Premier League footballer. Olympic gold medalist Scott Johnson is scheduled to address campers on July 9; his appearance will be recorded by Spectrum Sports for an upcoming broadcast segment. Other planned speakers include Stetson Baseball Coach Pete Dunn, former Orlando Magic player Nick Anderson, and former NFL player William Floyd.
The Florida Sports Hall of Fame Fan Club was created to give fans and supporters an opportunity to back sports at all levels while enjoying benefits such as merchandise, digital content, special events, and exclusive offers.
