As the holiday season nears, the City of Port St. Lucie has announced adjustments to its trash collection schedule following the holidays and is inviting residents to attend the annual Festival of Lights event on Saturday, December 6. The festival will take place from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, located at 9221 SE Event Center Place.

The Festival of Lights is a free event for families and includes live entertainment, festive activities, light displays, and the city’s Parade of Lights. The FM Band Miami will headline this year’s celebration with a performance scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The main event of the evening is the Parade of Lights, which starts at 6 p.m., followed by Port St. Lucie’s tree lighting ceremony. This year’s tree features a 34-foot multi-color LED panel topped with a snow burst decoration. A fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks is set to begin at 9 p.m.

Outdoor attractions include a midway carnival, children’s holiday activities such as meeting Santa Claus and photo opportunities, local vendors for holiday shopping, and various food trucks offering different cuisines.

Attendees can also visit an inflatable igloo and use a 360-degree photobooth in Village Square or step inside a life-sized snow globe installation.

Inside the venue from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., visitors can experience PSLinLights with illuminated displays, a model train exhibit, craft activities for children, interactive booths run by city departments, and watch bakers compete in the Gingersnap Showdown cookie contest in the lobby.

Residents are encouraged to bring non-perishable canned goods to support the Treasure Coast Food Bank’s efforts for local families in need.

“Program is subject to change.”

For more information about these events or to register for the Gingersnap Showdown baking competition, residents can visit www.cityofpsl.com/events or link.cityofpsl.com/gingersnap.

Port St. Lucie serves as Florida’s third-largest city by land area and has a population of approximately 260,000 people according to its official website. The city operates under a council-manager form of government with five elected council members who appoint both a city manager and attorney (source).
