Rep. Brian Mast, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 21st district, recently shared his thoughts on various issues via social media posts. Mast has been serving in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Patrick Murphy and has previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.
On July 4th, Mast expressed pride in Florida’s contributions to American history. He stated, “This Independence Day, I’m celebrating Florida’s unique contributions to our nation’s story—from its historic landmarks and ecosystems to the figures who influenced our culture & progress. I’ll always be proud to represent the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches in Congress”.
The following day, July 5th, he addressed environmental concerns near Lake Okeechobee. In his post, he warned residents about toxic blue-green algae present in the area and urged caution with water contact by saying: “If you’re spending time near Lake Okeechobee this weekend, please take precautions. Toxic blue-green algae is present, and a water advisory remains in effect.”
Later that same day, Mast voiced his opposition to environmental practices affecting Fort Pierce with a brief but pointed statement: “Enough is enough. Fort Pierce is not to be used as a dumping ground.”
Brian Mast was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently resides in Fort Pierce at age 42. He graduated from Harvard University Extension School with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016.
