Rep. Brian Mast, who has represented Florida’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, addressed recent policy developments affecting veterans and small businesses in a series of posts on May 4, 2026.
In his first message, Mast commented on the Department of Justice’s approach to cannabis regulation: “.@DOJ’s reclassification of cannabis is some good news for veterans & VA doctors. Next step: let’s get the Veterans Equal Access Act passed to create better access to healing and recovery.” (May 4, 2026). He followed this post with a brief mention directed at the Department of Justice: “@doj” (May 4, 2026).
Later that day, Mast addressed federal tax policy and its impact on Florida businesses: “Nine out of ten small businesses in FL just dodged a 39.6% federal tax hike with the permanent small business deduction. Happy Small Business Week.” (May 4, 2026).
Mast has served in Congress since replacing Patrick Murphy in 2017 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980, he resides in Fort Pierce and earned a BA from Harvard University Extension School in 2016.
