Rep. Brian Mast, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to highlight local events and share his views on public safety and immigration policy.

On September 4, Mast announced an upcoming event for young people in his district interested in military service academies: “Tomorrow, my office is hosting a Service Academy Summit for young men and women in #FL21 who are interested in pursuing a congressional nomination to one of our nation’s prestigious service academies. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more and get your questions answered.”

The following day, Mast expressed support for local law enforcement officers, writing on September 5: “St. Lucie County’s law enforcement officers are some of the most dedicated & committed public servants in our nation. Everyday these men and women make sure that our communities in Florida’s 21st are safe, and it’s why we’ll continue to #BackTheBlue. @stluciesheriff”

Later that same day, he addressed concerns regarding immigration policies with the statement: “‘Sanctuary cities’ are dangerous for the safety of all citizens. It’s unacceptable, and this is why Americans voted for the rule of law last November.”

Mast has served as the representative for Florida’s 21st District since succeeding Patrick Murphy in 2017; prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980, Mast now resides in Fort Pierce and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University Extension School.
