Rep. Brian Mast, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, addressed a range of community and national issues in recent social media posts, including wildlife conservation, anti-drug legislation, and support for veterans.
On July 17, 2025, Mast highlighted the importance of protecting coastal wildlife and enforcing local regulations to prevent harm to endangered species. He wrote: “All of us need to do our part to respect wildlife, enforce beach ordinances, and preserve our coasts for generations to come. False crawls—when turtles reach our shores but don’t nest because of human disturbance—can devastate these threatened & endangered species. Let’s keep” (July 17, 2025).
Later that day, Mast commented on the passage of federal legislation targeting the fentanyl crisis after President Biden signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law. In his post he stated: “Yesterday @POTUS signed the HALT Fentanyl Act into law. I proudly casted my vote to pass this bill through the House in honor of all of fentanyl’s victims & every American whose lives have been changed because of this devastating drug.” (July 17, 2025).
On July 18, Mast expressed appreciation for efforts supporting military veterans through home adaptations. He posted: “Sgt. Chris Short has shown incredible resilience, and this home adaptation shows our communities’ commitment to veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom. Thank you @HomesForOurTrps for all that you do to serve America’s heroes.” (July 18, 2025).
Mast has represented Florida’s 21st congressional district since replacing Patrick Murphy in Congress in 2017 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently residing in Fort Pierce at age 42, Mast graduated from Harvard University Extension School with a BA in 2016.
