Rep. Brian Mast, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 21st district since 2017, addressed a range of local and national issues in a series of posts on his official social media account this week.
On July 24, Mast highlighted environmental concerns regarding Lake Okeechobee, stating “Blue-green algae is covering about 40% of Lake Okeechobee right now. Thank God we’re operating under LOSOM so we’re not dealing with the threat of discharges.”
The following day, July 25, Mast commented on the state of small businesses in the United States. He wrote, “Small business owners across the country are feeling confident and optimistic about the future thanks to @POTUS and the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill. When small businesses thrive, America thrives. Let’s keep cutting red tape & unleashing opportunity.”
Later that same day, Mast addressed legal developments involving Fort Pierce City Commissioner James Taylor: “The charges levied against Fort Pierce City Commissioner James Taylor are beyond reprehensible. This morning, my office worked to deliver a letter of resignation requiring his signature, per state statute, and I want to see it signed immediately.”
Mast has served in Congress since replacing Patrick Murphy in 2017 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980 and currently residing in Fort Pierce, Mast holds a BA from Harvard University Extension School.
