During the first quarter of 2026, Aviata at Saint Lucie was named the second largest nursing home in St. Lucie County, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.
The facility provided 171 available beds, which was 44 above St. Lucie County’s average for Q1 2026, and cared for an average of 128.2 residents in that timeframe.
The CMS gave Aviata at Saint Lucie an overall score of 1 out of 5, which is below the statewide Florida nursing home average of 3.3.
Port St. Lucie Rehabilitation and Healthcare led the county in size, operating 180 beds in Q1 2026. The third largest was Life Care Center of Port Saint Lucie with 123 beds.
By Q1 2026, Aviata at Saint Lucie had paid $65,361 in fines across two incidents and received two penalties.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the U.S. senior population keeps rising, even as younger group numbers fall. From 2020-2024, the count of Americans age 65 and older surged by 13%, with the population under age 18 dropping by 1.7%. The nation’s senior group increased steeply in the last 100 years, climbing from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A report from 2021 found that nearly half of Americans over 65—about 28 million—will need long-term care, and over one-third may ultimately enter a nursing facility.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
