The city of Port St. Lucie is set to celebrate the grand opening of its unique riverfront destination, The Port District, with a family-friendly event that is free to attend. The inaugural attendees will have the opportunity to be the first to explore The Port's extraordinary new children's playground, Pioneer Park.
Port Fest, scheduled for Saturday, June 15, will feature events from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Among the highlights are a car show presented by the Port St. Lucie Historical Society at Lyngate Park from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Banyan Tree at 11 a.m., and a dance party with DJ Alexis Rose from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
The Retro Radio Band will perform from 3:30 – 5 p.m., followed by a free concert by The Wailers from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy family-friendly experiences such as sand sculpture artistry, aerial performances, stilt walkers and jugglers, face painting and glitter tattoos. Free souvenirs will be available while supplies last.
Food trucks and mobile bars will also be on-site for food and drink purchases.
The Port District is an exceptional venue that includes Pioneer Park - an imaginative interactive playground for children - as well as an event lawn, overwater stage, canoe and kayak launch site. A boardwalk meanders along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River and includes an overwater stage. Plans are underway for a waterfront restaurant offering dining along the river and walking trails in a wooded preserve at the southern portion of The Port District.
For transportation during Port Fest, attendees can park at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center where free air-conditioned motorcoaches will shuttle them to the event sites located at 2454 SE Westmoreland Blvd. and Lyngate Park. The motorcoaches will run in a constant loop throughout the event, stopping at the Lyngate Park car show and at the event entrance located south of the Botanical Gardens. Dedicated rideshare areas are also available.
The Port District stretches from the preserve tract just south of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens to Lyngate Park. The 9.75-acre plot has been transformed into a new destination on the banks of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, featuring a riverfront stage, versatile event spaces under open sky, welcoming public seating areas, meticulously renovated historic homes and an enchanting playground for children to explore.
